Nigella Sativa is an annual flowering plant in the ranunculus family (Ranunculaceae) that is primarily found in Southern Europe, North Africa and Southwest Asia. Nigella Sativa is also cultivated in a number of other countries including India, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. Also known as Black Seed Extract, Nigella Sativa Extract has a long history of documented use dating back 2,000 years in traditional and Ayurvedic systems. The name "Black Seed" is, of course, a reference to the color of this annual herb's seeds. Aside from their reported health benefits, these seeds are also sometimes used as a spice in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. The Nigella Sativa plant itself can grow up to about 12 inches tall and its flowers are usually pale blue in color but can also be white, yellow, pink or light purple. It is believed that thymoquinone, which is present in Nigella Sativa seeds, is the major active chemical component responsible for Nigella Sativa's reported health benefits. Traditionally, Nigella Sativa Extract has been used due to the belief that it supports general well-being and longevity. While Nootropics Depot offers Nigella Sativa Extract in capsule form, Black Seed Oil is another common form of the extract available for purchase.
Nigella Sativa health benefits and uses may include:
Nigella Sativa seeds contain a well-balanced composition of proteins, fatty acids and carbohydrates. A specific subset of the fatty acids, known as the essential oil, is considered the active part of the Nigella Sativa seed as it contains the main bioactive component Thymoquninone. While the oil component of a Nigella Sativa seed usually comprises 36-38% of its total weight, the essential oil component usually only accounts for .4% - 2.5% of the Nigella Sativa seeds total weight. A specific breakdown of the composition of Nigella Sativa's essential oil is as follows:
Nigella Sativa Seeds also contain other non-caloric components including Thiamin (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Potassium, Niacin, and more.
While there are a number of active compounds found in Nigella Sativa including thymohydroquinone, p-cymene, carvacrol, 4-terpineol, t-anethol, and longifolene and others listed above; it is believed that the presence of the phytochemical Thymoquinone is largely responsible for Nigella Sativa's reported health benefits. Thymoquinone is then converted to a dimer known as dithymoquinone (Nigellone) in the body. Both cell and animal studies have suggested that Thymoquinone may support cardiovascular health, brain heath, cellular function, and more. Thymoquinone is classified as a pan-assay interference compound which bind to many proteins indiscriminately.

I've been taking this for months- works great!
Probably the only GENUINE 10% extract on the market. I do a protocol for fungal and parasitic die off which gives me actual visible results... one 10% capsule of this is enough to trigger "die off" compared to a teaspoon of more expensive oil that's supposedly "strong" which does nothing in comparison.

Great product definitely noticed some libido boosting effects and a general feeling of well being that seems to last for days after cycling off will definitely be buying again
I did not experience the energy boost or focus I had hoped for using this product. Could work for others but just not for me.
My day feels easier/better after taking Black Seed. I feel like it affects my confidence positively.
I’ve been taking the Nigella Sativa from ND for about a week now, 250mg, 10% Thymoquinone. I have been taking other “new supplements” as well, such as 500 mg of DL Phenylalanine and 250 Cordyceps 10:1 extract. WOW have I been feeling insanely depressed, anxious, tired and weak. NOT my normal self. I can’t say for certain that it is the Nigella, so I’m testing it out, however. Today I took Nigella this morning upon waking and I feel even worse right now then I did when I woke up, it’s crazy, I DO NOT feel like myself. Very frustrating but I guess that is all part of the nootropic world, experimentation because not everything is going to hit everyone the same. I’d love to hear if it is affecting anyone else in this way. It just blows me away that I dont seem to feel better at all throughout the day. These sides do not fade at all. Tomorrow I will not take the Nigella and see how it goes,
I switched to this for immune health because the Immune Defense product was just too expensive for me to keep taking on a regular basis. Now I take this and my results are just as good. The product does have a strong flavor but that's just the nature of it. I take it with a flavored drink to mask the taste of the capsule.
I'd love to be able to take this, but every time I try, it completely messes up my stomach. Nothing against ND at all, I'm sure the forumulation is great, just something with my personal chemistry.
I don’t really notice acute effects from anything but this one definitely provides a noticeable mood boost for me which is really nice after a stressful day at work. I think maybe it’s helped a bit with my allergies also as they haven’t been bothering me nearly as much since I started taking this supplement. My lady said she gets a very noticeable mood and energy boost from it so if your looking for a little extra pep in your step then I’d definitely recommend this one. We’re taking the 10% btw.
I've tried many brands and strengths over the years and this is by far the strongest and most beneficial. Very energizing and boosts mood and productivity. Dare I say (knock on wood) that it also helps tremendously with immunity because I am the only one I know that has not even had so much as a sniffle when everyone else is getting colds, flu, and covid.
Thought it would help with digestion because I easily get stomach pain with any fibrous/fatty foods. Totally solved that by completely ameliorating the pain especially when combines with Rephyll, but I tried it once on an empty stomach and one capsule felt like a 10mg dose of adderall giving me focus and energy for 5-6 hours. Do not take this before bed otherwise you might get insomnia.
I've used many black seed oil products over the years and most claim high potency and are effective, but I now realize what I was missing. I purchased the 10% thymoquinone version and in just 2 days, I am incredibly surprised at the all day energy and nice calmness I have mentally. This is only taking 1 per day. No afternoon crash and no jitters, just clean bright, awareness. VERY happy here.
I love nigella sativa now. I typically have a lot of digestion issues, resulting in a lot of overnight struggles and waking up to a very upset stomach. Since I started taking this, my stomach is minimally upset in the morning. I can function like a normal person! I also notice it helps clear up my sinuses.
I took this with tongkat to even out the effects. Not sure it's needed, I'll try tongkat by itself next time. Overall it's high quality nigella sativa for sure. Just possibly too subtle for me.
If I had to narrow my stack down to three supplements it'd be Polygala 20:1, NMN, and Nigella Sativa. One of these little capsules makes stress melt off your shoulders like a stick of butter in a Georgia summer. Thymoquinone has plenty of scientifically proven benefits, but they aren't as easy to measure. I keep a mood journal and after taking this for a month I've noticed drastic improvements in my feelings of relaxation and satisfaction.
That's the best way to describe it.. Makes you... chirpier. In a good way.
Always timely, great quality.
This supplement didn't have too many side effects, which is nice, makes it very easy to add to a stack. It made me have diarrhea if I took it with coffee so I take it before bed. I take two capsules. I normally react very badly to immune boosting supplements, but this didn't cause a reaction. The main advantage that I've noticed with this supplement is I'm much less adverse to daily chores and hanging out with people, which I normally find tedious. I haven't really noticed any nootropic benefits, just behavioural changes. I'm going to continue to take this, it has mild upsides but pretty much no downsides.
I am not 100% sold on Black seed oil in general. Haven't noticed anything besides a bad after taste. Too soon to tell though.
1400 years ago, the prophet said that it cure everything except, death . I take it everything single day.
